FRY DELEGATION VISITS HQ OF UNITED STATES EUROPEAN COMMAND

UNITED STATES EUROPEAN COMMAND, Stuttgart, Germany -- Mr. Goran Svilanovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Dr. Nebojsa Covic, a Deputy Prime Minster of Serbia, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, just concluded a visit to Headquarters, U.S. European Command today.  This is the first visit of an official from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to the headquarters since Operation ALLIED FORCE.   The visitors from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia met with Gen. Carlton Fulford, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, U.S. European Command, received briefings about the command's mission and engagement activities, and discussed lessons learned from the efforts to restore peace and stability to Southern Serbia. 

"The time is right to engage with selected officials of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) to foster positive relations and further our common interests for a peaceful and prosperous Southeastern Europe," said Fulford. "This visit reinforces the prospect for regional stability.  Recent FRY initiatives have served as a catalyst to achieving our mutual goals of long-term peace and security in the region.  The re-entry of FRY forces into the Ground Safety Zone is one example of the progress towards peace that has been made."

Traveling with Foreign Minister Svilanovic and Deputy Prime Minister Covic to U.S. European Command headquarters was Lt. Gen. Ninoslav Krstic, Commander of the Yugoslav Joint Security Forces; Maj. Gen. Goran Radosavljevic, Commander of Joint Security Force Police Units; Ambassador William D. Montgomery, Chief of Mission for the American Embassy in Belgrade; and Maj. Patrick Murray, U.S. Defense Attaché Office.

POSETA DELEGACIJE SAVEZNE REPUBLIKE JUGOSLAVIJE
SEDIŠTU KOMANDE ZA EVROPU SJEDINJENIH DRŽAVA

Komanda za Evropu Sjedinjenih Država, Štutgart, Nemačka—G.Goran Svilanović, Ministar spoljnih poslova Savezne Republike Jugoslavije i dr. Nebojša Čović, potpredsednik vlade Srbije (SRJ) upravo su danas završili posetu sedištu Evropske komande Sjedinjenih Država.  Ovo je prva zvanična poseta iz Savezne Republike Jugoslavije od operacije združenih snaga.  Gosti iz Savezne Republike Jugoslavije sastali su se sa generalom Karltonom Fulfordom (Carlton Fulford), zamenikom načelnika generalštaba evropske komande, gde su upoznati sa zadacima i angažovanjem sedišta komande, a razgovarali su o iskustvima stečenim tokom uloženih napora da vrate mir i stabilnost južnoj Srbiji.

“Došlo je vreme da se angažujemo zajedno sa odabranim zvaničnicima Savezne Republike Jugoslavije (SRJ) na poboljšanju odnosa i razvijanju zajedničkih interesa za  naprednu jugoistočnu Evropu koja živi u miru,” rekao je Fulford.  “Ova poseta ojačava izglede za stabilnost u regionu.  Nedavne inicijative SRJ bile su katalizator za ostvarenje naših zajeničkih ciljeva, a to su dugoročni mir i bezbednost u regionu.  Povratak snaga Savezne Republike Jugoslavije u kopnenu zonu bezbednosti je primer ostvarenog napretka.”

U Komandi za Evropu sa Ministrom spoljnih poslova Svilanovićem i potpredsednikom Čovićem bili su i komandant jugoslovenskih združenih snaga general pukovnik Ninoslav Krstić, komandant združenih snaga bezbednosti policije, general major Goran Radosavljević, Šef misije američke ambasade u Beogradu ambasador  Vilijem Montgomery (William D. Montgomery), i major Petrik Mare (Patrick Murray) pri kancelariji američkog atašea za odbranu.
