FACT SHEET

Embassy of the United States of America, Belgrade

Resumption of U. S. Consular Services in Belgrade

As of October 1, 2001, the American Embassy will resume full consular services in Belgrade.

Visa interviews will be conducted by appointment only. Applicants may phone 011-644-663 from 9:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 17:00 every working day to make an appointment.

Visa fees will not be collected at the Embassy. The $45 application fee must be paid at designated branch offices of the Komercijalna Banka in Yugoslavia and a fee receipt brought to the Embassy at the time of application.

Most visa applications will be processed within one working day. (Complete applications submitted on a Monday will be processed by Tuesday afternoon).

Some visa applicants do not necessarily need an interview. They include:

- Persons 60 years of age and older, traveling to the U.S. for business or pleasure, for a stay of three months or less, if they have documentary evidence of property and family ties to Yugoslavia, and evidence of financial support in the U.S.

- Returning students and Exchange Visitors who have a currently valid Form I-20 or IAP 66, and evidence of financial support in the U.S.

- Parents of U.S. citizens visiting their children in the U.S. for fewer than six months, and who have evidence of property and family ties to Yugoslavia.

Persons who meet the above requirements may submit their passports and supporting documents every working day between 13:30 and 15:30.
