Embassy of the United States of America, Belgrade

U.S. Embassy Welcomes Successful Dream Ball Fundraising

The U.S. Embassy is pleased to have helped the Dream Ball Committee, headed by Mrs. Lynne Montgomery, raise DM 259,395 for the Belgrade Oncology Institute. Due to the generosity of Bristol Myers Squibb, all proceeds will be matched by an in-kind donation of pharmaceuticals. The U.S. Embassy AID/OTI made a grant to the Oncology Institute totaling USD 60,583. The AID/OTI grant will be used to purchase an electric generator; a sterile air system; an electrical circuit box; an emergency call system; a fire alarm system; and an emergency power system. The total amount of donations, including matching in-kind pharmaceuticals, received to date by the Dream Team comes to DM 518,790.

The Dream Ball Committee is also awaiting further contributions to be received this month, or at the opening of the Pediatric Unit. Kool Company will donate air conditioning units; McDonald’s will provide the unit with a new playroom (DM 20,000); and Autel-Tele Medicine will donate a video link connecting the hospital to anywhere in the world (DM 40,000). Astra Zeneca medicines has pledged DM 3,750 and Zelko Joksimovic will hold a concert whose proceeds will benefit the Dream Team for children’s projects.
