of America JUSTICE SANDRA DAY O'CONNOR TO VISIT SERBIA United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, one of nine justices on the highest court in the United States, will visit Serbia July 13-15 as part of a regional tour. Justice O'Connor, from Arizona, was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Ronald Reagan, becoming the first woman justice in the court's history. She took her seat on the Court on September 25,1981. During her visit, which is sponsored by the American Bar Association's Central and East European Law Initiative (ABA/CEELI), Justice O'Connor will give a speech on July 14 at 14:00 at Congress Hall B of the Sava Center in Belgrade on "The Importance of an Independent Judiciary in a Democratic Society." All media wishing to cover Justice O’Connor’s remarks and questions
and answers session should be at the Sava Center no later than 13:15
on July 14.
