NEW U.S. CURRENCY DESIGN PRESENTED AT
THE U.S. EMBASSY

On Thursday, September 18, at 14:00, at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, Chris Dunnett, the Embassy’s Economic Officer, and representatives of the National Bank of Serbia held a press conference to present and introduce the newly re-designed U.S. $20 bill, which will be issued in the United States beginning October 9.

The $20 bill is the first of three new banknotes that will be issued over the next three years and which incorporate new designs and new security features. A new $50 bill will follow in 2004 and a new $100 bill in 2005.

As U.S. currency is used worldwide, the Embassy wishes to provide information about the redesigned $20 bill and to assure the public that both older and new U.S. currency will continue to have equal value.
