International Education Week The week of November 17-21 will be celebrated as “International Education Week” by the U.S. the Department of State and Department of Education throughout the world. To highlight opportunities for study in the United States, a number of presentations and panel discussions will take place in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Nis and Podgorica from Nov. 18-21. In a statement on the occasion of this year’s International Education Week, Secretary of State Colin Powell said: “We are all students of the world we live in, and today, our world is more interdependent than ever before. The challenges we face in areas such as security, democratic development, economics, and health cannot be addressed by any country acting alone. International education – learning about other cultures and languages through study, living overseas, and interacting with people of other countries – promotes the free exchange of ideas, allows us to seek joint solutions to problems, and helps create lasting partnerships to meet our shared concerns.” Following is the schedule of activities that will take place in Serbia and Montenegro: Belgrade, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 12:00: presentation on graduate study in the US and panel discussion on the Fulbright Program at the American Student Advising Center, Gospodar Jovanova 16 Belgrade, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 16:00: presentation on completing test applications and panel discussion on youth exchange programs at the American Student Advising Center, Gospodar Jovanova 16 Kragujevac, Thursday, Nov. 20, 12:00: presentation on undergraduate/graduate study in the US at the University of Kragujevac, Rectorate Building Podgorica, Thursday, Nov. 20, 16:00: panel discussion on undergraduate/graduate study in the US at the Podgorica American Corner, located at the Cultural-Information Center “Budo Tomovic”, Vaka Djurovica b.b Belgrade, Friday, Nov. 21, 16:00: presentation on undergraduate study in the US and discussion of the Junior Faculty Development Program at the American Student Advising Center, Gospodar Jovanova 16 Novi Sad, Friday, Nov. 21, 12:00: panel discussion on undergraduate/graduate study in the US at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Law Nis, Friday, Nov. 21, 17:00: presentation on undergraduate/graduate study in the US at the Nis American Center, Pobede 20 There will be a press conference to provide more

U izjavi povodom ovogodišnje Međunarodne nedelja obrazovanja, državni sekretar Kolin Pauel je rekao: “Mi smo svi studenti sveta u kome živimo i danas je naš svet povezaniji nego ikada ranije. Izazovi sa kojima se suočavamo u oblastima bezbednosti, demokratskog razvoja, ekonomije i zdravstva ne odnose se samo na pojedinačne zemlje. Međunarodno obrazovanje – učenje o drugim kulturama i jezicima kroz studiranje, boravak u drugim zemljama, i interakcija sa ljudima iz drugih zemalja – promoviše slobodnu razmenu ideja, omogućava pronalaženje zajedničkih rešenja problema i pomaže stavaranje trajnih partnerstava kojima se suočavamo sa našim zajedničkim problemima”.
