U.S. MARSHALS TO CONDUCT TRAINING FOR SERBIAN JUSTICE AND POLICE OFFICIALS

A team of U.S. security experts are currently in Serbia conducting a week long training program and workshop for organized crime and war crimes prosecutors, police and judges concerning security for witnesses, courthouses and judicial personnel. The team includes four experienced specialists from the United States Marshals Service, which is the oldest law enforcement agency in the U.S.

The U. S Marshals are responsible for a variety of duties including prisoner transport, courthouse security, fugitive apprehension and witness security including the administration of the U.S witness protection program.

The team in Belgrade includes members of the Witness Security Program Headquarters in Washington D.C., field managers and field agents and the Assistant Chief Central Courthouse Management of the Judicial Security Division. The team is joined by the Assistant District Attorney and Deputy Chief of the Rackets Bureau of New York County’s District Attorney’s Office as well as the Embassy’s Resident Legal Advisor.

The team will conduct a week-long workshop and assessments to assist in implementation of courthouse security for the new Special Court and the implementation of Serbia's Witness Protection Program.

AMERIČKI STRUČNJACI ZA BEZBEDNOST OBUČAVAJU
SLUŽBENIKE MINISTARSTVA PRAVDE I UNUTRAŠNJIH POSLOVA

Tim američkih stručnjaka za bezbednost trenutno boravi u Srbiji u okviru programa jednonedeljne obuke i seminara za tužioce zadužene za organizovani kriminal i ratne zločine, za policajce i sudije koji se bave bezbednošću svedoka i za osoblje sudova. U timu se nalaze četiri iskusna stručnjaka iz Maršal službe SAD koja je najstarija služba za sprovođenje zakona u SAD.

Pripadnici Maršal službe SAD su odgovorni za brojne zadatake kao što su transport osuđenika, obezbeđivanje sudnica, hapšenje begunaca i zaštita svedoka uključujući administriranje američkog Programa zaštite svedoka.

U timu se nalaze članovi centrale Programa zaštite svedoka u Vašingtonu, agenti i menedžeri sa terena i asistent šefa centralne sudnice iz Jedinice za obezbeđivanje sudova. Timu su se pridružili i zamenik okružnog tužioca i zamenik šefa za organizovani kriminal pri kanceliriji okružnog tužioca Nju Jorka, kao i stalni pravni savetnik ambasade SAD.

Ovaj tim će održati jednonedeljni program i izvršiti odgovarajuću procenu u cilju primene bezbednosnih mera u novom Specijalnom sudu i primene Programa zaštite svedoka u Srbiji.
