US Government and UNHCR Supports the Roma Center

On Friday, December 19 at 12:00 noon, Dr. Lynne Germaine Montgomery will visit the Roma Center in Zeleznik to mark the completion of roof renovations on parts of the Center.

The U.S. Government, trough the Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugee and Migration, provided $7,500 for the complete rebuilding of the roof of the Roma Center, making an activity room useful. Without the new roof, the largest room could not have been used.

UNHCR also provided financial assistance for replacement of a ceiling, insulation and a new wall to allow the room to be used by the 48 Roma children attending the school. The Roma Center is owned by the local municipality and run by the Roma community with help from UNHCR.

Vlada SAD i UNHCR pomažu Romski centar

U petak, 19. decembra u 12:00 časova, Dr. Lin Džermejn Montgomeri posetiće Romski centar u Železniku povodom završetka radova na krovu zgrade.

Vlada SAD je preko Biroa za populaciju, izbeglice i migracije Stejt Departmenta obezbedila 7,500 dolara za kompletnu rekonstrukciju krova na Romskom centru čime je osposobljena prostorija za dnevni boravak. Bez novog krova najveća prostorija bila je neupotrebljiva.

UNHCR je takođe obezbedila finansijsku pomoć za zamenu plafona, izolaciju i izgradnju pregradnog zida čime je omogućeno da 48 romske dece koja pohađaju školu koriste ovu prostoriju. Romski centar je vlasništvo opštine a njime upravlja zajednica Roma uz pomoć UNHCR-a.
