Ambassador Michael C. Polt Participates in
63rd Commemoration of
the Kragujevac Massacre

On October 21, 2004, U.S. Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro, Michael C. Polt, participated in ceremonies in Kragujevac honoring the memory of the thousands of innocent civilians murdered by Nazi forces 63 years ago.

On behalf of the Government of the United States, and the American people, the Ambassador laid a wreath at the Sumarice Memorial Complex, bearing the inscription: "UNITED AND RESOLUTE AGAINST ALL INHUMANITY, THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

The Ambassador met with Kragujevac Mayor Veroljub Stevanovic and other dignitaries attending the ceremony, paying his respects to the people of Kragujevac and the surrounding region who suffered greatly during one of the most tragic periods in Serbia's history.

Američki ambasador u Srbiji i Crnoj Gori Majkl K. Polt prisustvovao je 21. oktobra komemoraciji u Kragujevcu u znak sećanja na hiljade civila koje su nacisti streljali pre 63 godine.

U ime Vlade Sjedinjenih Država i američkog naroda ambasador je u memorijalnom kompleksu Šumarice položio venac sa posvetom: "UJEDINJEN I ODLUČAN PROTIV NEČOVEČNOSTI, NAROD SJEDINJENIH AMERIČKIH DRŽAVA. "


Ambasador se sastao sa gradonačelnikom Kragujevca Veroljubom Stevanovićem i drugim zvaničnicima i odao počast građanima Kragujevca i regiona koji su stradali tokom jednog od najtragičnijih periode istorije Srbije.
