U.S. Embassy Supports Run/Walk and Health Fair on World Heart Day

On Sunday, September 25, the U.S. Embassy, in cooperation with the Ministry
of Health and the City of Belgrade, is supporting a fun run/walk and health
fair on Ada Ciganlija to promote public awareness of heart and blood vessel
disease, and how to prevent it.
Heart and blood vessel disease is the number one killer of adults throughout
the developed world. Working together, we can treat this disease -- but we
can also take charge of our own health and work to avoid the risk of heart
attack by not smoking, controlling our blood pressure, detecting and treating
diabetes and high cholesterol, and keeping up a program of proper diet and
exercise.
The U.S. Embassy is supporting this important initiative because we believe
that one of the many ways we can work with the people of Serbia and Montenegro
to build a stronger country is to help the public health community to build
a stronger and healthier people -- by helping to get out the message about
what every citizen of Serbia and Montenegro can do to live longer and healthier.
The registration for the run/walk will begin at 9 am and is open to all. The
runners and walkers will begin the event at 10 am, with the runners doing a
full 7.7 km lap of Savsko Lake, while the walkers will enjoy a separate 3 km
route.
We invite all interested citizens to take part in this free event. Special
commemorative t-shirts will be given to the first 1000 participants in the
run/walk. A raffle for prizes for the run/walk participants will be held directly
after the event.
Press interested in covering the event should be at the start line by 9:30
am in order to be able to attend the official event launch and the start of
the run/walk.

AMBASADA SAD PODRŽAVA "TRČI I ŠETAJ" MANIFESTACIJU I SAJAM ZDRAVLJA
NA SVETSKI DAN SRCA

U nedelju 25. septembra, ambasada SAD u saradnji sa Ministarstvom zdravlja
Republike Srbije i Gradom Beogradom, podržaće održavanje "Trči i šetaj" manifestacije
i sajma zdravlja na Adi Ciganliji u cilju informisanja građana o bolestima
srca i krvnih sudova i merama prevencije.
Bolesti srca i krvnih sudova su najčešći uzročnik smrtnosti odraslog stanovništva
u razvijenim zemljama.
kroz poboljšanje zdravlja ljudi i obaveštavanje građana Srbije i Crne Gore
Prvih
1000 učesnika u "Trči i šetaj" manifestaciji dobiće besplatne majce.
