U.S. Assistance Helps Improvement of Water Distribution in Arilje

The official opening of a newly constructed water reservoir in Arilje will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2005, at 14:00. The construction of this essential object was made possible by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) via the Community Revitalization through Democratic Action (CRDA) program, implemented in western Serbia by International Relief and Development (IRD).

The construction of a water reservoir capacity 1,000 m3 is a part of a project called „Water Supply Extension and Improvements in Arilje,“ which includes the installation of a pumping station at the existing reservoir, connection to the existing pipeline system, and construction of a water main from new reservoir to main distribution system.

Thanks to this improvement, villages upstream Moravica River (Pogled, Vigoste, Latvica, Stupcevici, Mirosaljci, Tresnjevica and Dragojevac) will finally be connected to the main water distribution system. Prior to the new improvements, these villages had a local water distribution connected to groundwater wells only, which contained undisinfected water; supply shortages during dry seasons were very common. The project will provide a reliable water system for households and farms involving approximately 7,000 persons. For the improvement and extension of water supply system in Arilje, USAID contributed $181.690 of a total value of $302,179, while the municipality Arilje provided the remaining amount.

The project will be opened jointly by Arilje Mayor Zoran Micovic and IRD Director, Jesse Bunch. Journalists interested in covering the opening ceremony should arrive at the water reservoir site no later than 13:45, on Saturday, September 24, 2005.

SAD pomogle unapređenje vodosnabdevanja u Arilju

Otvaranje novoizgrađenog rezervoara za vodu u Arilju održaće se u subotu, 24. septembra 2005. godine sa početkom u 14:00 časova. Izgradnju ovog veoma važnog objekta omogućio je američki narod kroz Američku agenciju za međunarodni razvoj (USAID), preko Programa revitalizacije zajednice putem demokratske akcije (CRDA), koji u zapadnoj Srbiji sprovodi USAID-ov partner organizacija IRD.

Izgradnja rezervoara za vodu kapaciteta 1.000 m3 deo je projekta „Unapređenje sistema vodosnabdevanja u Arilju“, koji se takođe sastoji i od instalacije 2 pumpe sa armaturom na već postojećem rezervoaru, povezivanja na postojeći cevovod i konstrukcije dovoda od novog rezervoara do glavnog sistema.

Zahvaljujući ovim radovim sela uzvodno od reke Moravica (Pogled, Vigošte, Latvica, Stupčevići, Mirosaljci, Trešnjevica i Dragojevac) će najzad biti povezana na glavni vodovod. Pre izgradnje novih delova sistema, pomenuta sela bila su povezana na lokalne bunare iz kojih se crpela voda neispitanog kvaliteta, a slab pritisak u toku letnje sezone bio je veoma česta pojava. Ovaj projekat će obezbediti pouzdano snabdevanje vodom za oko 7.000 novih korisnika.

Za unapređenje i proširenje sistema vodosnabdevanja u Arilju, USAID je uložio 181.690 američkih dolara, od ukupno 302.179 dolara koliko je koštao ceo projekat, dok je opština Arilje obezbedila ostatak novca.

Projekat će zajedno otvoriti gradonačelnik Arilja, Zoran Mićović, i direktor IRD-a za zapadnu Srbiju, Džesi Banč (Jesse Bunch). Pozivamo zainteresovane novinare da prisustvuju otvaranju novoizgrađenog rezervoara u subotu, 24. septembra 2005. godine sa početkom u 14:00.
