U.S. Helps Reconstruction of Sabac Green Market

The green market in Sabac center, an object of vital significance for all Sabac citizens and inhabitants of surrounding villages, is going to be reconstructed starting this week. The reconstruction is made possible by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This project is part of Community Revitalization through Democratic Action (CRDA) program, which is implemented in Western Serbia by International Relief and Development (IRD).

The market building has never been seriously renovated, thus the façade, water and sewage systems as well as electrical installations have been deteriorated. Currently, this market place does not meet technical and sanitary standards legally prescribed for this type of structures. The number of stands is insufficient and there is a lack of indoor refrigeration units for milk, dairy and meat products. Roof is leaking with a threat of collapse. Market main entrance door and windows are old while the market hall concrete floor is seriously damaged. The space between the stands is narrow and not according to standards. Such situation is discouraging to investors and particularly to farmers.

The project of reconstructing this market place will cover replacement of old stands with new and modern stands, provision of additional 60 new stands, provision of 13 new shops, one store and 2 toilets, construction of new sanitary facilities inside market building, reconstruction of the building with installation of new door and windows, complete installation of power, water and sewage systems. Market will be equipped with new refrigeration units for milk, dairy and meat products. Also an indoor gallery of 186 m2 with 10 office spaces and two staircases will be installed.

While it is expected that the improvement to this facility will bring the significantly positive effect to the economic revitalization in Sabac Municipality, JKP “Stari Grad” will employ 3 additional people who will work on market maintenance and fee collection for the stands.

Total cost of this project is expected to be over $314,000, of which USAID will devote over $163,000. The remainder will be provided by Municipality Sabac. Construction Company “Dukic” from Sremska Mitrovica was selected as the contractor for the works through a public tendering process. Estimated completion time is four months.

SAD pomažu rekonstrukciju tržnice u Šapcu

Početak rekonstrukcije šabačke tržnice, objekta od vitalnog značaja za sve stanovnike Šapca i okolnih sela, počeće ove nedelje. Rekonstrukciju je omogućio američki narod kroz Američku agenciju za međunarodni razvoj (USAID). Projekat je deo Programa revitalizacije zajednice putem demokratske akcije (CRDA), koji u zapadnoj Srbiji sprovodi organizacija IRD.

Ovaj trgovinski objekat nikada do sada nije bio kompletno renoviran, s toga su fasada, vodovodne i kanalizacione cevi kao i električne instalacije veoma dotrajali. Trenutno, objekat tržnice ne odgovara standardima propisanim za ovakvu vrstu objekata. Broj tezgi je nedovoljan, a nedostaju i frižideri za meso, mleko i mlečne proizvode. Krov prokišnjava i postoji mogućnost da se obruši. Vrata i prozori na ulazu u tržnicu su dotrajali, a betonski pod je ozbiljno oštećen. Prostor između tezgi je uzan i ne odgovara standardima. Ovakva situacija obeshrabruje potencijalne investitore, a posebno poljoprivredne proizvođače.

Projekat rekonstrukcije tržnice obuhvata zamenu starih tezgi novim modernim tezgama, kupovinu dodatnih 60 tezgi, instalaciju 13 otvorenih prodavnica, jednog magacina i 2 toaleta, izgradnju sanitarnih prostorija unutar tržnice, rekonstrukciju zgrade sa ugradnjom novih vrata i izgradnjom kompletne vodovodne, kanalizacione i električne mreže. Tržnica će takođe, biti opremljena frižiderima za prodaju mesa, mleka i mlečnih proizvoda. Biće sagrađen i deo sa 10 kancelarija i dva kružna stepeništa.

Očekuje se da će renoviranje tržnice znatno doprineti ekonomskoj revitalizaciji opštine Šabac imajući u vidu da se veliki broj stanovnika ove opštine bavi poljoprivrednim delatnostima. Odmah po završetku radova na rekonstrukciji JKP „Stari grad“ će zaposliti troje ljudi na održavanju objekta i sakupljanju naknada za iznajmljivanje tezgi.

Ukupna vrednost projekta je preko 314.000 američkih dolara od čega je USAID izdvojio 163.000 dolara. Ostatak sredstava će obezbediti Opština Šabac. Za izvođača radova preko javnog tendera odabrano je Građevinsko preduzeće „Dukić“ iz Sremske Mitrovice, a očekuje se da će radovi trajati oko 4 meseca.
