U.S. Organizes Conference on Domestic War Crimes Trials

The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Overseas Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) along with the Humanitarian Law Center will sponsor a three-day conference: "Domestic War Crimes Trials - Taking a Lead", in hotel "Maestral", Milocer, Montenegro, from October 18-20, 2006. OPDAT is a program managed by the U.S. Embassy Belgrade Resident Legal Advisor's Office,

The conference, organized in conjunction with the U.S. Ambassador for War Crimes Issues and the Humanitarian Law Center, will feature a comprehensive gathering of top prosecutors, judges, police investigators, victim/witness coordinators and witness protection officers from the region (Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia). They will discuss the achievements and future challenges in domestic war crimes trials as well as issues relating to regional cooperation. The conference will feature distinguished U.S. and ICTY officials such as the U.S. War Crimes Ambassador, Clint Williamson, the ICTY Deputy Chief Prosecutor, David Tolbert, and Senior Department of Justice regional officials.

Press interested in covering the opening of the conference should be present at the "Maestral" Hotel in Milocer no later then 8.30 AM on October 18th.

SAD organizuju konferenciju o sudskim procesima za ratne zločine pred domaćim sudovima

Program Ministarstva pravde SAD za međunarodnu pomoć, usavršavanje i obuku sudova, tužilaštava i policije (OPDAT) i Fond za humanitarno pravo organizuju trodnevnu konferenciju: "Sudski procesi za ratne zlocine pred domaćim sudovima - preuzeti vođstvo", u hotelu "Maestral", Miločer, Crna Gora, od 18. do 20. oktobra 2006. OPDAT je program koji sprovodi Kancelarija stalnog pravnog savetnika pri Ambasadi SAD u Beogradu.

Konferencija, organizovana u saradnji sa ambasadorom SAD za ratne zločine i Fondom za humanitarno pravo, okupiće vrhunske tužioce, sudije, policijske istražitelje, službenike za podršku svedocima i službenike za zaštitu svedoka iz regiona (Srbija, Hrvatska, Bosna i Hercegovina, Crna Gora, Kosovo, Makedonija). Oni će razgovarati o dostignućima i budućim izazovima u domaćim sudskim procesima za ratne zločine kao i o pitanjima u vezi sa regionalnom saradnjom. Konferenciji će prisustvovati istaknuti zvaničnici SAD i Međunarodnog krivičnog suda za bivšu Jugoslaviju (MKSJ), poput ambasadora SAD za ratne zločine Klinta Vilijamsona, zamenika glavnog tužioca MKSJ Dejvida Tolberta, kao i najviši predstavnici Ministarstva pravde SAD u regionu.
