President Bush Acknowledges Holocaust Remembrance Day

I send greetings to those observing the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

The Holocaust will forever remind us of the universal principle that evil must be opposed wherever it exists. The liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp on January 27, 1945, made the world fully aware of the horrors of the Holocaust and the deliberateness with which evil destroyed millions of innocent victims. Today, the international community honors the victims of the Holocaust by condemning the cruelty of the guilty, celebrating the courage of those
who fought against this injustice, and remembering the power of good to overcome evil.

I appreciate all those observing this important day of commemoration for your efforts to share the stories and lessons of the Holocaust with new generations. With understanding and respect for the rights and dignity of every human being, we can build a better world for people everywhere.

OBRAĆANJE PREDSEDNIKA BUŠA POVODOM DANA SEĆANJA NA HOLOKAUST

Pozdravljam sve one koji u znak sećanja na žrtve Holokausta obeležavaju Međunarodni dan sećanja.

Holokaust će nas zauvek podsećati na univerzalni princip da se zlu moramo suprotstaviti gde god da postoji. Oslobađanje koncentracionog logora u Aušvicu 27. januara 1945. godine u potpunosti je svetu otkrilo sve strahote Holokausta i promišljenost kojom je zlo uništilo milione nevinih žrtava. Danas, međunarodna zajednica odaje poštovanje žrtvama Holokausta, osuđujući okrutnost onih koji snose odgovornost za isti, slaveći hrabrost onih koji su se borili protiv ove nepravde i podsećajući se da dobro uvek pobedi zlo.

Cenim sve one koji obeležavaju ovaj važan komemorativni dan kao i vaš trud da se priče i pouke Holokausta prenesu i na nove generacije. Shvatajući i poštujući prava i dostojanstvo svakog ljudskog bića, možemo stvoriti bolji svet za sve.

Lora i ja vas srdačno pozdravljamo. Neka vas Bog blagoslovi i da nikada ne zaboravimo ovaj dan.
