U.S. Embassy Welcomes Developments in Bytyqi Case

The U.S. Embassy welcomes the announcement by the Special Court for War Crimes that two persons suspected of involvement in the murder of the Bytyqi brothers have been taken into custody. The Bytyqi brothers were three American citizens who were murdered in Serbia following their illegal detention at Petrovo Selo in 1999.

We applaud the Serbian authorities for taking this important step toward bringing this investigation to a close, and hope all individuals involved -- regardless of their current or previous rank or position -- in the murder of the Bytyqi brothers will be rapidly brought to justice.
