U.S. Ambassador to Open Conference on Enforcement of Commercial Judgments

On October 15, 2007, at the Sava Center, the Serbian Minister of Justice, Dusan Petrovic and the U.S. Ambassador to Serbia, Cameron Munter, will deliver opening remarks at a two-day conference titled “Commercial Enforcement – Serbia and the Region”, jointly organized by the Serbian Ministry of Justice and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The goal of the conference is to raise awareness of areas in which the Serbian Enforcement system can be made more efficient.

The conference will serve as a platform for open discussions on specific obstacles identified as hampering the Serbian Enforcement system as well as to examine solutions adopted in neighboring countries. Two analyses will be presented – ‘The Enforcement of Commercial Judgments in Serbia’ (identifying problems in the existing system) and ‘The Survey of Neighboring Countries Enforcement Regimes’ (examining regional solutions).

USAID has established a $9.4 million-dollar project to provide targeted technical assistance to assist the Serbian government in creating a climate more conducive to investment, including an effective enforcement system to back court decisions.

The conference will be attended by representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Regional Development; Judges from the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, High and other Commercial Courts, more than 17 banks doing business in Serbia, the Business Registry Agency, donor organizations and others.

Journalists interested in covering the conference should be at Sava Centar (Hall 1b), Milentija Popovica 9, New Belgrade at 9:40 am, on October 15, 2007. The Conference is opened for media representatives during both days.

Ambasador SAD otvara konferenciju o izvršnom postupku u Srbiji

Ministar pravde u Vladi Srbije, Dušan Petrović i ambasador SAD u Srbiji, Kameron Manter, otvoriće dvodnevnu konferenciju „Izvršni postupak – Srbija i zemlje u okruženju“, koju zajednički organizuju Ministarstvo pravde Republike Srbije i Američka agencija za međunarodni razvoj (USAID) koja se održava 15. i 16. oktobra 2007. u Sava Centru. Konferencija ima za cilj da ukaže na neophodnost poboljšanja i povećanja efikasnosti sistema izvršenja u Srbiji.

Konferencija će pružiti mogućnost učesnicima za otvorenu diskusiju o konkretnim preprekama koje otežavaju izvršenje u Srbiji, a na njoj će biti predstavljena i rešenja koja su prihvaćena u susednim zemljama. Biće prezentovane i dve analize: Procena stanja u oblasti izvršenja u Srbiji, u kojoj su prepoznati problemi prisutni u postojećem sistemu i Analiza izvršnih postupaka u zemljama u okruženju, koja daje pregled rešenja prihvaćenih u susednim zemljama.

USAID je osnovao projekat, vredan 9,4 miliona dolara, koji pruža usmerenu tehničku pomoć Vladi Srbije u cilju stvaranja povoljnijeg okruženja za ulaganja, uključujući i pomoć u razvoju delotvornog sistema izvršenja sudskih odluka.

Na konferenciji će učestvovati predstavnici Ministarstva pravde, Ministarstva finansija, Ministarstva ekonomije i regionalnog razvoja, sudije Ustavnog suda, Vrhovnog suda, Višeg trgovinskog suda i drugih trgovinskih sudova, predstavnici preko 17 banaka koje posluju u Srbiji, predstavnici Agencije za privredne registre, predstavici donatorskih organizacija i drugi stručnjaci.

Novinari zainteresovani za izveštavanje sa konferencije trebalo bi da budu u Sava Centru (Sala 1b), Milentija Popovića 9, Novi Beograd, u 9.40 časova u ponedeljak 15. oktobra 2007. Oba dana konferencije otvorena su za predstavnike medija.
