Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to Establish Regulatory Partnership

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) is implementing an introductory partnership between the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to exchange relevant information, regulatory practices and technical applications in electricity and natural gas sectors. The partnership will allow the Serbian regulator to have broad access to the US regulatory environment and will enable the Pennsylvania PUC to learn new techniques and methodologies as well as to gain an understanding of the regulatory practices in the broader Southeast Europe region.

On November 1, 2007, at the International Press Center, Mr. Ljubo Maćić, President of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Michael T. Harvey, USAID Mission Director to Serbia, and Mr. Wendell F. Holland, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), will sign a Memorandum of Understanding illustrating the respective roles of the parties involved in the partnership. The Regulatory Partnership Program is designed with the goal of improving market-based regulatory practices and institutions.

The Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia / Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission Regulatory Partnership Program is supported by funding from the United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and implemented by NARUC.

Partnerstvo u oblasti regulative između Agencije za energetiku Republike Srbije i Komisije za komunalne delatnosti Pensilvanije

Nacionalno udruženje regulatora za komunalne delatnosti (NARUC) rukovodi partnerstvom između Agencije za energetiku Republike Srbije i Komisije za komunalne delatnosti (PUC) Pensilvanije sa ciljem razmene relevantnih informacija, prakse u oblasti regulative i tehničkih primena u sektorima električne energije i prirodnog gasa. Partnerstvo će omogućiti regulatorima u Srbiji da imaju bolji pristup regulatornom okruženju u SAD, a PUC Pensilvanije će imati priliku da se upozna sa novim tehnikama i metodologijama kao i da stekne uvid u regulatornu praksu u široj regiji Jugoistočne Evrope.

U Međunarodnom pres centru će, 1. novembra 2007, Ljubo Maćić, predsednik Agencije za energetiku Republike Srbije, Majkl Harvi, direktor misije USAID-a u Srbiji i Crnoj Gori i Vendel Holand, predsedavajući Komisije za komunalne delatnosti Pensilvanije potpisati Sporazum o saradnji koji precizira uloge strana učesnica u partnerstvu. Program partnerstva u oblasti regulative je osmišljen sa ciljem da se na tržištu poboljšaju institucije i regulatorna praksa.

Partnerstvo u oblasti regulative Agencije za energetiku Republike Srbije/ Komisije za komunalne delatnosti Pensilvanije finansira vlada SAD preko Američke agencije za međunarodni razvoj (USAID), a sprovodi ga NARUC.

Novinari koji su zainteresovani da izveštavaju sa ovog događaja pozvaju se da dođu u Međunarodni pres centar, Knez Mihailova 6 (3 sprat), u četvrtak, 1. novembra u 15.50 časova. Novinari su pozvani da prisustvuju koktelu nakon svečanog potpisivanja sporazuma.
