U.S. Supports First Ever Corporate Social Responsibility Awards in Serbia

The Balkan Community Initiatives Fund and Ambassador Cameron Munter are hosting the first annual VIRTUS Corporate Philanthropy Excellence Award on Tuesday, November 20, in the House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. This award, the first of its kind in Serbia, will be given to companies and business entities which have distinguished themselves by supporting non-profit actions or organizations for the public good in the most efficient and effective way over the past year.

The competition has been organized by the Balkan Community Initiatives Fund in cooperation with the USAID-funded Civil Society program, implemented by the Institute for Sustainable Communities. Other supporters include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, VIA Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF), Consulting House ‘Hauska&Partner’, Smart Kolektiv, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, ‘Ekonomist’ magazine, ‘E-kapija’, the PR Society of Serbia and the City of Belgrade.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Božidar Đelić and Ambassador Munter will be among those presenting the awards. Distinguished guests from the business, governmental and non-profit sector will be in attendance.

SAD podržavaju prvu dodelu nagrada za korporativno - društvenu odgovornost u Srbiji

U utorak, 20. novembra, u Domu Narodne skupštine Republike Srbije, Balkanski fond za lokalne inicijative i ambasador Kameron Manter će biti domaćini prve godišnje dodele nagrade VIRTUS za korporativnu filantropiju. Nagrada VIRTUS, prva ovakve vrste u Srbiji, biće dodeljena kompanijama i poslovnim subjektima koji su tokom 2007. na najdelotvorniji i najefikasniji način podržali neprofitne akcije ili organizacije od opšteg interesa.

Konkurs za dodelu nagrada je organizovao Balkanski fond za lokalne inicijative u saradnji sa programom Američke agencije za međunarodni razvoj (USAID) za jačanje građanskog društva, a koji sprovodi Institut za održive zajednice. Ovaj projekat takođe su podržali i Ministarstvo spoljnih poslova Republike Češke, Fondacija VIA, Fondacija braće Rokfeler (RBF), konsultanska kuća Hauska&Partner, Smart Kolektiv, Prajsvoterhauskupers, magazin Ekonomist, E-kapija, Društvo za odnose sa javnošću Srbije i grad Beograd.

Potpredsednik vlade republike Srbije, Božidar Đelić, i ambasador Manter će biti među onima koji će uručiti nagrade. Ovom događaju će takođe prisustvovati i drugi uvaženi i istaknuti gosti iz privrede, neprofitnog i vladinog sektora.
