U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Cameron Munter Arrived in Belgrade

United States Ambassador to Serbia Cameron Munter arrived in Belgrade on Wednesday, August 15, 2007.

Ambassador Munter was sworn in as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia on July 26, 2007. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service of the United States, Ambassador Munter served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassies in Prague (2005-2007) and Warsaw (2002-2005). During this period, he also volunteered as the first team leader of the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Mosul, Iraq (2006).

Before that, in Washington, Ambassador Munter was Director for Central and Eastern Europe at the National Security Council (1999-2001), Executive Assistant to the Counselor of the State Department (1998-1999), Director of the Northern European Initiative (1998), and Chief of Staff in the NATO Enlargement Ratification Office (1997-1998). Earlier he had held the posts of Country Director for Czechoslovakia (1989-1991) and Staff Assistant in the European Bureau of the State Department (1988-1989).

Previous overseas postings included Bonn (1995-1997), Prague (1992-1995), and Warsaw (1986-1988).

Ambassador Munter joined the Foreign Service in 1985. He holds a doctoral degree in Modern European History from the Johns Hopkins University and studied also at the universities of Freiburg and Marburg (Germany) and Cornell University.

Ambassador Munter expressed his pleasure with his assignment and his resolve to strengthen the relationship between the U.S. and Serbia. "Our mission," he said, "is to work towards a Serbia that is prosperous, secure, democratic and fully integrated within Euro-Atlantic institutions. We are committed to helping Serbia become a part of a Europe whole, free and at peace."

Ambasador SAD u Srbiji Kameron Manter doputovao u Beograd

Ambasador SAD u Srbiji Kameron Manter stigao je u Beograd u sredu, 15. avgusta 2007. godine.

Ambasador Manter je 26. jula 2007. godine položio zakletvu kao sledeći ambasador SAD u Srbiji. Kao viši diplomata od karijere Službe spoljnih poslova Sjedinjenih Država, ambasador Manter je služio kao zamenik šefa misije u ambasadama SAD u Pragu (2005-2007) i Varšavi (2002-2005). U toku ovog perioda dobrovoljno se prijavio i radio kao prvi vođa Tima za rekonstrukciju u Mosulu, u Iraku (2006).

Pre toga, ambasador Manter je radio u Vašingtonu kao direktor za Centralnu i Istočnu Evropu pri Nacionalnom savetu za bezbednost (1991-2001), zatim kao izvršni pomoćnik savetnika Stejt dipartmenta (1998-1999), direktor Severnoevropske inicijative (1998) i kao šef kabineta u NATO Kancelariji za ratifikaciju proširenja (1997-1998). Takođe je radio i kao direktor kancelarije zadužene za saradnju sa Čehoslovačkom (1989-1991) i kao pomoćnik u Evropskom birou Stejt dipatmenta (1988-1989).

Prethodna postavljenja van Amerike uključuju Bon (1995-1997), Prag (1992-1995) i Varšavu (1986-1988).

Ambasador Manter je započeo svoj rad u Službi spoljnih poslova 1985. godine. Doktorirao je modernu evropsku istoriju na univerzitetu Džon Hopkins, a takođe je studirao i na univerzitetima u Frajburgu i Marburgu u Nemačkoj kao i univezitetu Kornel, SAD.

Ambasador Manter je izrazio svoje zadovoljstvo ovim postavljenjem i odlučnost da radi na jačanju odnosa između SAD i Srbije. "Naš zadatak je da radimo tako da Srbija postane prosperitetna, bezbedna, demokratska zemlja u potpunosti integrisana u evroatlanske institucije. Posvećeni smo cilju da pomognemo Srbiji da postane deo celovite, slobodne i mirne Evrope," kaže ambasador Manter.
