Emergency Travel

Requests for urgent appointments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. There are emergency appointments set aside daily for scheduling through the call center at (381-11) 305-0550. Cases could include urgent business travel, student/exchange programs with an imminent start date, recent qualification for sports tournaments, etc. These appointments are not, however, available to those who have failed to plan ahead. There needs to be an obvious valid reason outside of the applicant’s control for the urgency of the appointment.

If circumstances are such that you need to travel sooner than an emergency appointment is available, then please contact us as described below. Applicants requesting such services must show that they have purchased a pin number.

Such cases could include:

Travel by a spouse, child, parent, or sibling due to serious illness or death. Applicants must fax an up-to-date statement from a U.S. physician indicating the condition of the patient, including contact information so that, if necessary, the consul may contact the physician. If attending a funeral, a death certificate or other documentation of the family member's death must be faxed to the consular section at fax number (+381) 11 361-5497.

Medical Emergencies. To set up an appointment, applicant should fax a letter from a Serbian or Montenegrin doctor explaining urgency of travel, and why treatment in the United States is required and a letter from a U.S. doctor or hospital (with contact information) confirming appointment and urgency. At the time of interview, applicant (or in the case of hospitalized applicants, a family member) must be able to provide all the documents listed in "Medical Treatment in the United States" above.

Approved visas require one day for processing. Visa recipients can pick up their passport with visa at 16:00 the next business day after the day of their interview, unless otherwise notified.
