Journalists traveling on assignment must make an appointment for an interview. Applicants must present a reference letter from their employer with a clear and precise description of the project, which they are supposed to carry out in the U.S. The materials gathered in the U.S. must be used exclusively for cultural or information purposes (and not for commercial purposes or for advertising). Journalist ID or accreditations must be attached to the documents described in "Basic documents and photographs".

Approved visas require one day for processing. Visa recipients can pick up their passport with visa at 16:00 the next business day after the day of their interview, unless otherwise notified.
