OPENING OF THE AMERICAN CENTER IN NIS

On Friday, February 14, U.S. Ambassador William D. Montgomery, and the Mayor of Nis Goran Ciric, will open the “American Center” at the International Cultural Center, at Pobede St. 20. This project is the result of cooperation between the Nis City Hall and the Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade. The Nis National Library “Stevan Sremac” has been incorporated as an executive partner in this project.

The Agreement on Cooperation and Foundation of the “American Center” was signed on September 27, 2002. According to the Agreement, the assets allocated by the U.S. Embassy for the furniture, technical equipment, books, CD-ROMs, promotional materials and staff training exceed the total amount of $45,000.

U.S. Ambassador William D. Montgomery and the Mayor of Nis Goran Ciric will officially open the “American Center.” A reception and press conference in the Grand Hall of the City Hall Presidency building at 7th July St. 2, will follow the official opening ceremony.

The American Center will be open to the public Monday-Saturday from 8:00a.m.-8:00p.m. The first 200 visitors will receive a free poster.

Zajedničko saopštenje za štampu Američke ambasade i Skupštine grada Niša

OTVARANJE AMERIČKOG CENTRA U NIŠU

U petak 14. februara u Nišu, Ambasador SAD Vilijem D. Montgomeri i predsednik Skupštine grada Niša Goran Ćirić će zvanično otvoriti «Američki centar» u okviru Internacionalnog kulturnog centra u ulici Pobede br. 20. Ovaj projekat je rezultat saradnje Skupštine grada Niša i Odseka za odnose sa javnošću Američke ambasade u Beogradu. Kao izvršni partner grada u ovaj projekat uključena je Narodna biblioteka «Stevan Sremac» iz Niša.

Sporazum o saradnji i osnivanju «Američkog centra» potpisan je 27. septembra 2002. godine. Prema pomenutom sporazumu, sredstva izdvojena od strane Američke ambasade za nameštaj, tehničku opremu, knjige, kompakt diskove, promotivni materijal i obuku iznose preko 45,000 dolara.

Ambasador SAD Vilijem D. Montgomeri i predsednik Skupštine grada Niša Goran Ćirić svečano će otvoriti «Američki centar». Posle svečanog otvaranja biće priređen prijem i konferencija za štampu u velikoj sali, u zgradi predsedništva Skupštine grada, u ulici 7. juli broj 2.

«Američki centar» biće otvoren za javnost od ponedeljka do subote od 8:00 do 20:00h. Prvih 200 posetilaca dobiće besplatan poster.

Novinari zainteresovani za medijsko pokrivanje ovog otvaranja i konferenciju za štampu treba da budu:
