A-SMYLE - American Serbia & Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange is a program which allows high school students from Serbia and Montenegro to study in the United States for an academic year while living with an American family. Through this exchange series, 204 high school students from all over Serbia and Montenegro were chosen to travel to the United States in the three academic years since the program's commencement (2005-2006, 2006-2007 and 2007-2008).
Funded by the Department of State, on behalf of the American people, under the Support for Eastern European Democracy (SEED) act, A-SMYLE will be implemented in Serbia and Montenegro by American Councils, working in cooperation with Belgrade's Gradjanske Inicijative.
Students from throughout Serbia and Montenegro will be selected by an independent panel of American professionals in education and international relations on the basis of merits demonstrated in the application materials.
