U.S. Choreographer at the Belgrade Terazije Musical Theater

The Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy in Serbia is supporting the second visit of U.S. choreographer and dancer Joe Alegado to Belgrade.

Joe Alegado, who is from Texas, but lives and works in Vienna, Austria, arrived in Belgrade in early January 2008 to conduct a dance workshop and choreograph a performance at the Belgrade Terazije Musical Theater.

In an effort to refresh the repertoire with new performances, Terazije Musical Theater hosted a Limon dance technique workshop designed and conducted by Joe Alegado for a group of fifteen theater dancers. At the same time, Alegado created the choreography for a contemporary dance performance entitled "The Earth," the premiere of which will take place on February 12 at the Terazije Musical Theater.

Joe Alegado was a soloist of the José Limón Company and a teacher at the José Limón Institute in New York City for many years. Besides his long-term cooperation with Viennese dance institutions such as the State Opera Ballet School, his work has taken him all over the world, to Asia, various European countries and the United States. Since 1984 he has been on the Faculty of ImPulsTanz Workshops, formerly International Dance Weeks Vienna.

Američki koreograf u beogradskom "Pozorištu na Terazijama"

Kancelarija za kulturu i medije ambasade SAD u Srbiji je pomogla da američki koreograf i plesač Džo Alegado poseti Beograd po drugi put.

Džo Alegado, koji je iz Teksasa ali živi i radi u Beču, u Austriji, doputovao je u Beograd početkom januara kako bi održao radionicu i uradio koreografiju za predstavu u beogradskom "Pozorištu na Terazijama."

U cilju obnavljanja repertoara sa novim predstavama, "Pozorište na Terazijama" je bilo domaćin radionice organizovane za 15 pozorišnih plesača, koju je osmislio i vodio Džo Alegado, a na kojoj je predstavljena tehnika plesne škole Limon. Istovremeno, Alegado je uradio koreografiju za savremenu plesnu predstavu "Zemlja" čija premijera je zakazana za 12. februar u "Pozorištu na Terazijama".

Džo Alegado je više godina bio solista u plesnoj Kompaniji Hoze Limon kao i nastavnik plesa na Institutu Hoze Limon u Njujorku. Pored njegove višegodišnje saradnje sa bečkim plesnim institucijama, kao što je baletska škola Državne opere, njegov rad ga je vodio po čitavom svetu - do Azije, raznih evropskih zemalja i Sjedinjenih Država. Od 1984. godine je na fakultetu ImPulsTanz Workshops, nekadašnjoj školi International Dance Week u Beču.
