Ambassador Munter Supports Alumni Environment Initiative in Subotica

On Saturday, March 21, Ambassador Cameron Munter will visit Subotica to support alumni of the American Serbia Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange program in their environment initiative “Kreni od Sebe!”. The Mayor of Subotica, Mr. Sasa Vucinic, will also join the alumni in the cleaning of Dudova suma in Subotica.

This activity was initiated by two enthusiastic youth organizations from Subotica, “Forrest Dump” and “Green Mile”, whose activists spent a full school year in the United States through U.S. Embassy sponsored A-SMYLE program. The activists have been supported by the Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade and the Waste Management Office of Subotica. During 4-hour long clean-up, which is set to start at 10 a.m., 40 volunteers will clean this public area. Ambassador Munter, together with Mayor Vucinic, will address the volunteers involved in the clean-up.

The U.S. Embassy in Serbia is fully committed to supporting the promotion of environmental protectionand is looking forward to similar activities that will be organized by A-SMYLE alumni and their partner organizations in Serbia..

Ambasador Manter podržava akciju očuvanja životne sredine u Subotici

U subotu, 21. marta, Ambasador Kameron Manter će posetiti Suboticu kako bi podržao inicijativu bivših učesnika programa razmene “Mladi lideri Srbije i Crne Gore” (A-SMYLE) pod imenom “Kreni od sebe!”, koja je usmerena na podizanje nivoa svesti o značaju očuvanja životne sredine. Gradonačelnik Subotice, g. Saša Vučinić, će se takođe priključiti aktivistima u čišćenju Dudove šume u Subotici.

Akciju “Kreni od sebe!” su inicirale dve omladinske organizacije iz Subotice, “Forrest Dump” i “Green Mile”, čiji su aktivisti proveli jednu školsku godinu u Americi, kroz ambasadin program razmene A-SMYLE. Aktiviste je u ovoj akciji pomogla Kancelarija za medije i kulturu ambasade SAD u Beogradu, kao i Gradsko zelenilo grada Subotice. Tokom četvorosatne akcije, koja počinje u 10:00, četrdesetak volontera će raditi na čišćenju ove javne površine. Ambasador Manter i gradonačelnik Vučinić će obratiti učesnicima akcije.

Ambasada SAD u Srbiji je u potpunosti posvećena promociji zaštite životne sredine, i podržaće slične aktivnosti koje će organizovati učesnici programa razmene A-SMYLE i njihove partnerske organizacije širom Srbije.

Novinari zainteresovani za izveštavanje sa ovog događaja bi trebalo da budu u Dudovoj šumi u Subotici u 11:30, u subotu, 21. marta.
