Statement by Ambassador Cameron Munter on Certification

I am pleased to announce that United States Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has certified that Serbia has met the criteria of Section 7072(c) of the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act of 2009, due to its cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.

An additional $5 million will now be made available to complement the $44 million in assistance the United States is currently providing to Serbia this year. These funds will support the efforts of the Government of Serbia and the United States to continue to advance progress toward sustained democratic standards and practices, broader economic well-being and political stability of the country.

Secretary Clinton's certification of the Serbian government's current cooperation with the ICTY acknowledges that Serbia is making efforts to comply with its international obligations. While additional obligations remain, we are optimistic that Serbia's leadership will fulfill their final commitments.

Since 2001, the American people have contributed over $720 million to Serbia. The U.S. is proud to have nurtured a strong friendship with Serbia and the Serbian people. Development assistance is just one facet of this partnership, which also includes strong and deepening military cooperation and a solid commitment from the American private business sector.

Saopštenje ambasadora Kamerona Mantera o sertifikaciji

Imam zadovoljstvo da objavim da je državna sekretarka SAD Hilari Rodam Klinton pozitivno ocenila da je Srbija svojom saradnjom sa Međunarodnim krivičnim sudom za bivšu Jugoslaviju (MKSJ) ispunila kriterijume Sekcije 7072(c) Stejt Dipartmenta, Inostrane aktivnosti, i pripadajućih programskih akata iz 2009.

Dodatnih 5 miliona dolara će sada biti dostupno i dopuniće 44 miliona dolara pomoći koju Sjedinjene Države ove godine obezbeđuju Srbiji. Ova dodatna sredstva će podržati napore Vlade Srbije i Sjedinjenih Država na unapređenju demokratskih standarda, ekonomije i političke stabilnosti u zemlji.

Pozitivna odluka državne sekretarke Klinton o sadašnjoj saradnji Vlade Srbije sa MKSJ-om potvrdila je da Srbija čini napore u ispunjavanju svojih međunarodnih obaveza. Iako preostale obaveze ostaju, optimisti smo da će lideri Srbija u potpunosti ispuniti preuzete obaveze.

Od 2001. godine, američki narod je pomogao Srbiju sa preko 720 miliona dolara pomoći. SAD su ponosne što neguju snažno prijateljstvo sa Srbijom i srpskim narodom. Pomoć u razvoju je samo jedan vid našeg odnosa koji takođe uključuje i snažnu vojnu saradnju, kao i značajan doprinos američkog privatnog poslovnog sektora.
