U.S. Embassy Organizes Professional Development Program in the U.S. for Serbian Editors
May 25 – June 5, the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade organized a ten-day Professional Development Program for six editors/reporters from Serbian media. The program was tailored and administered in cooperation with the Washington-based non-profit organization The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and conducted in Washington D.C. and San Francisco.
During the program in Washington, D.C. , the group visited U.S. media such as The Washington Post, VOA and The Politico and observed The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer live from the control room at WETA-TV. The group also visited and had meetings at the Center for Public Integrity, The House Committee on Foreign Affairs, U.S. Senate Daily Press Gallery, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, The Foreign Press Center and National Press Center. While visiting U.S. State Department, the group had an on-the-record briefing with DAS Stu Jones, met with the Serbia Desk Officer and other staff, attended a Daily Press Briefing and had a short meeting with Deputy Spokesperson Robert Wood. At the end of the visit to Washington, D.C. , the group visited the Newseum and spent a pleasant evening at the Kennedy Center enjoying a concert by The Temptations and famous U.S. conductor Marvin Hamlish.
The program in San Francisco included visits to the San Francisco Chronicle, Radio KCBS, YouTube, magazine Mother Jones and the Peninsula Press Club, as well as meetings at the schools for journalism of two prestigious universities, Stanford and Berkley. The group enjoyed a half day of sightseeing of San Francisco and an afternoon tour of Alcatraz.
The intensive professional enrichment program provided an opportunity for Serbian media professionals to meet and confer with their professional counterparts in the U.S. and to experience American firsthand.

AMBASADA SAD ORGANIZOVALA POSETU UREDNIKA SRBIJE AMERICI
Ambasada SAD je organizovala desetodnevnu posetu SAD za šest urednika/novinara iz Srbije, od 25. maja do 5. juna. Progam u Americi je osmišljen i sporoveden u saradnji sa neprofitnom organizacijom iz Vašingtona “Međunarodni centar za novinare” i obuhvatio je posete Vašingtonu i San Francisku.
U toku posete Vašingtonu, grupa urednika je posetila američke medije kao što su Vašington post, Glas Amerike i Politiko, I imala je priliku da u televiziji WETA-TV prati uživo iz kontrolne sobe popularni informativni program “Sat sa Džimom Lererom”. Grupa je takođe posetila i imala sastanke u Centru za istraživacko novinarstvo, Komitetu za spoljnje poslove Kongresa, Pres galeriju u Senatu, Vudro Vilson centru, Međunarodnom pres centru kao i Nacionalnom pres centru. Prilikom posete Stejt dipatmentu, grupa je imala brifing sa zamenikom pomoćnika sekretara Stjuartom Džounsom, susrela se da osobljem koje je zaduženo za Srbijiu, posmatrala je dnevni pres brifing i imala kraći sastanak sa zamenikom portparola Robertom Vudom. Na kraju posete Vašingtonu, grupa je posetila muzej posvećen novinarstvu “Njuseum” i provela prijatno veče u Kenedi centru uživajući u koncertu “Temptejšena” i poznatog američkog dirigenta I kompozitora Marvina Hemliša.
Program u San Francisku je uključio posete dnevnim novinama San Francisko Kronikl, Radiu KCBS, YouTubu, magazinu Madr Džouns i Pres klubu Peninsula kao i sastanke u školama novinarstva na prestižnim univerzitetima Stanford I Berkli. Grupa je takođe uživala u poludnevnom razgledanju grada i popodnevnoj poseti Alkatrazu.
Ovaj intezivni program usavršavanja pružio je priliku profesionalcima iz srpskih medija da se susretnu i razgovaraju sa svojim kolegama u Americi i da dožive Ameriku iz prve ruke.
