Due to the improved security situation in Serbia, the temporary ordered departure of non-emergency American staff and all family members from U.S. Embassy Belgrade was terminated effective March 26, 2008.  In addition, the Department of State has rescinded the Travel Warning for Serbia.

The Embassy’s consular section is currently open for limited American Citizen Services.  The Embassy will resume full operations April 1, 2008.

Those concerned for the safety of American Citizens in Serbia should call the Embassy switchboard at +381 11 361 9344 and ask to be connected with the American Citizen Services section.  Those with an after-hours emergency should call +381 11 361 9344.

American citizens in Serbia are encouraged to register through the State Department's travel registration web site at https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/ to obtain updated information on travel and security. Americans without Internet access may register directly with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate or by calling the numbers above. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy or Consulate to contact them in case of emergency.

For the latest security information, Americans living and traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Bureau of Consular Affairs’ web site at http://travel.state.gov, where the current Worldwide Caution, Travel Alerts, and Travel Warnings can be found.
